MISSIONS UPDATE

Fall 2009

CDM Philippines

(Left: Pastor John & Hannah Bagalawis and their sons Iden & Johanon.)

The CDM Church in the Philippines is doing well under Pastor John's leadership. However, the area is suffering much due to the recent typhoons. Hundreds have died due to mud slides, and thousands have lost homes and are in various evacuation centers.

Pastor John and family's home retaining wall collapsed. He said, "It's been scary! We need your prayers for the storms to stop."

Please pray for these requests and for the church to be a light and a place of refuge during a dark time.

Abraham & Remy Ricanor

Abraham & Remy are another couple that CDM ministers with when they go to the Philippines. The Ricanors have done outreaches in December 2009 and January 2010. Click here to see some of the photos from these outreaches.

CDM Kenya

(Left: Pastor Daniel & Desmah Musiya)

In July, we worked with Pastor Allan Onyango. He visited our CDM Churches in Kenya, taught there and returned with a detailed report for Pastor Carolyn and Pastor Mary. The following is what Pastor Daniel wrote:

"Allow me to begin to say sorry for the long time that we have not been in touch on email nor cell phone, and allow me to say Praise the Lord for healing that He gave to you in the sabbatical time you had to pray and think about your health, and say the God who healed you be praised and glorified!"

"A series of things have come to pass in my life and ministry since the year began and I thank God for things have never remained the same, for we see the Lord take over day by day. We have seen struggles in our own family life to the point of giving up but God has kept us. When waves have been rough, when sickness has been the language of the day from me, to children, to my wife, death of my sister, aunt and other family down, above all we are still strong."

"The two CDM Churches are in course and when you come we will have the possibility of having the third one. We just have concluded the three-day seminar in the first Church and it was wonderful. Three people gave their lives to the Lord. The second Church is strong as well. We hope to hold a seminar there this November and hope it will do it best."

"We thank God for you sending us Dr. Allan and ask him to come back again when he comes in December, for he said he might come and stay even longer, ministering in the Church. All things are set and we pray that the Lord bring you to us. In this time of economical hardship the paper factory in the town was closed, and it is so hard for people to access many things, but thanks to God for life and we hope all goes well."

"In the near future we wish to make our pre-unit school to a full primary school starting January, and we need to build other structures. We are almost winning a tender for the brick in Kitale Town and when we shall be through we shall update you."

Please pray for the CDM Churches in Kenya!!!

Brazil

Pastor Emilio Talamonte just visited CDM/USA for an update and vision casting for the Hebron Valley Ministry. The Hebron Valley, "Land of Milk and Honey," is a 200 acre tract of land that is being developed as a "community" for God. License has been granted by the Brazilian government to begin construction of a school (Pre-K - 8th grade) as part of the first phase of development.

Although the Hebron Valley is not a CDM work, we have been actively involved with Pastor Emilio as advisor, spiritual parent, etc.

Pastor Carolyn, at Pastor Emilio's request went to Brazil three years ago to prayer walk and dedicate the land to God. She also did Leadership Training and was the first woman ever allowed to teach in the local Presbyterian seminary, and the first woman ever allowed to preach from the platform of a local Presbyterian church. Pastor Emilio is desiring Pastor Carolyn to return in 2010 to train church and government officials. Please pray for God's guidance.

CDM/USA Headquarters

In the past few years, Pastor Tim has completed his Masters Degree in Theology from Interdenominational Theological Center, and finished his doctoral class work in Leadership and Theology at Oral Roberts University. He is presently working on his doctoral dissertation project. Hopefully he will complete his doctorate in Leadership and Theology in 2010.

Pastor Tim is doing a great job moving CDM/USA forward during one of our nation's greatest economic challenges, and he is a greatly respected professor at Beulah Heights University. Please pray for Pastor Tim and his family as he moves us forward with God's vision for the local community.

Other Open Doors

CDM is contacted on a regular basis by local leaders, other leaders in other nations and leaders across the United States for counsel, coaching, advisement, and spiritual parenting. This is an awesome responsibility. We covet your prayers. We are humbled that God has chosen us, the most unlikely in man's eyes, to have such a world-wide impact in North America, South America, Africa and Asia.

How Can You Help?

Letter From Pastor Carolyn

Dear Family & Friends of CDM:

I pray you are doing well! Although "times" are difficult for many, it is a great opportunity for the Church. People's hearts are open to the Good News of Jesus, and I'm finding people very open for prayer. Just this week I've had the opportunity to minister to nine people...at the gas pump, in a parking lot, in a furniture store, and in a restaurant. It was so fulfilling and brought me much joy! Don't miss your "window of opportunity" to minister in the marketplace. They are open and they need your message.

If I can raise the money to do so, I have invitations in 2010 to train leaders in India and Brazil. I also need to return to our CDM Churches in Kenya and the Philippines. If you need a tax deduction for the year 2009, would you consider helping me go to these nations by making a tax deductible donation to Christ Discipleship Ministries (CDM)? Any amount will be greatly appreciated.

If you have questions or comments, please contact me at 770-969-8370.

God Bless You !!!
